BECKON welcomes writers, photographers, researchers, artists and other contributors interested in exploring places, people and ideas beyond the centres of attention.
We are particularly interested in long-form essays, profiles, field notes and visual storytelling — stories told through Central European perspectives, but speaking to questions that reach far beyond the region. This might mean a story rooted in the region, told by any author — or a story from elsewhere, told by someone who genuinely knows and has lived with a Central European place, not just visited it. What matters to us is that the connection is real, not decorative.
BECKON is currently self-funded, and we can't yet offer payment for web contributions. We're working toward a printed edition, funded through grants, where contributors will be paid.
